The 12-Step Program

Free Indeed

A peer support program for Black women — not therapy, not a church. A community of women who have lived it, who are living through it, and who refuse to live in it forever.

Narcissistic Abuse

Being controlled, manipulated, gaslit, or emotionally exploited by someone — a parent, partner, or religious leader — who used love or authority as a weapon.

Emotional Incest

Being made to carry the emotional weight of a parent's life in ways that crossed the line between parent and child. Sometimes called parentification or enmeshment.

Religious Trauma

Being harmed in the name of God — through shame, silencing, control, or manipulation by churches, religious leaders, or family using scripture as a weapon.

01–03

Free
Always. No cost to attend. Donations accepted & appreciated.

I did not cause the abuse I experienced.
I could not have controlled it. I could not have cured it
with more love, more silence, or more faith.

But I can choose my healing — one day, one step, one truth at a time.
I am Free Indeed.

"We are women who were taught to carry what was never ours to carry. We were told that silence was strength, that suffering was sacred, and that our needs came last.

This is a place where those words are welcome."

Questions

What you might be wondering

What is the difference between Reclaimed Healing and Free Indeed? +
Reclaimed Healing is the full platform — courses, coaching, content, and community. Free Indeed is the 12-step peer support program that lives within it. You can participate in one, the other, or both.
Do I have to share at Free Indeed meetings? +
Never. You are welcome to attend for weeks or months without speaking a word. Listening is full participation. You will never be called on or pressured to share.
Is Free Indeed a religious program? +
No. Free Indeed uses open, flexible language around spirituality. Your Higher Power can be God, spirit, community, or your truest self. No one will push you toward any specific faith tradition — especially not one that harmed you.
Is this a substitute for therapy? +
Free Indeed is peer support — not therapy. We strongly encourage every member to also work with a licensed, trauma-informed therapist. We can help connect you with culturally competent Black therapists.
What if I'm not sure my experience counts? +
It counts. If any part of narcissistic abuse, emotional incest, or religious trauma resonates — even a little — you belong here. You don't need a diagnosis or a dramatic story. You only need willingness.
Are the meetings really free? +
Yes. Free Indeed meetings are always free to attend. We accept donations to sustain the program — materials, space, and resources — but no one will ever be turned away for inability to donate.
How do I get the Healing Workbook? +
The Free Indeed Healing Workbook is available through Reclaimed Healing. You can request a copy through the contact form below, or ask your facilitator at your first meeting.
Can I be a facilitator or sponsor? +
Yes — when you're ready. Facilitators must complete the 12 steps, attend at least 12 meetings, and go through training. Sponsors must have completed the steps and have an active sponsor of their own. Ask us about both through the contact form.
